In September 2017, the Csodacsapat (Wonderteam) project was launched, which we were able to implement with the support of Open Society Foundations. Within the framework of the project, we will create an active civil network in Csobánka, which will help local social services to work together more easily and in a joint effort on matters that are important to them. The net has been shaping around the school for years, and setting up a tutor mentor system was an important milestone in this process. The closure of the segregated elementary school in Csobánka in 2016 and its reopening in 2017 created the need to formalize and operate this network more actively. The purpose of the Csodacsapat project is to strengthen the integrated education in the local school and to ensure that disadvantaged/Roma students have equal opportunities in education by bringing together all relevant actors, students, parents, school teachers, afterschool mentors and social professionals. You will find more information of the project on our blog in Hungarian: https://csodamuhely.wordpress.com/2017/12/07/a-csodacsapat-projekt-elso-negyedeve/. From September 2018, as a continuation of the Csodacsapat project, we provide training opportunities for the teachers of the local school and kindergarten, as well as for the volunteers of the school in cooperation with Partners Hungary Foundation. The essence of the “Step-by-step” pedagogical training program is to support teachers in creating an inclusive classroom atmosphere, by applying person-centered pedagogy, differentiation, enforcing student autonomy, using cooperative education and project methodology. The training will take place at the beginning of 2019, followed by an insititution visit so that participants can observe how it all works in practice. The integration of these new practices to their teaching methods will be supported by a follow-up mentoring system.
